Hermann Wilhelm Goering (AKA Goring) was mostly known as one of Adolf Hitler's closest associates and as Commander-in-Chief of the Luftwaffe during WWII. What is lesser known is that he was also a highly decorated WWI pilot with 22 kills, awarded the famed "Blue Max" (Pour le Merite), and commanded the elite JG 1 squadron (Jasta Richtofen) at the end of the war.
