The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-23 Flogger is a third-generation, variable-geometry jet fighter aircraft. Other 3rd generation Soviet fighters include the MiG-25 Foxbat and Su-15 Flagon. The Mig 23 was the first Soviet fighter to field a look-down/shoot-down radar and one of the first Soviet aircraft to be armed with beyond visual range missiles. Production began in 1970 and over 5,000 aircraft were built. The MiG-23 still remains in service with some export customers.
