Descendants of James Ahern Sarah Casey and Mary Boland
Product Description
James Ahern was born and raised on a small mountain farm in Upper Skeheen, County Cork. In addition to farming, he was a carpenter by trade. He married Sarah Casey in 1880 with whom they had nine children. Following Sarah's death, James married Mary Boland and twelve children were born of this marriage. Of the twenty-one children born of the two marriages, four died young. Ten of the surviving children emigrated to the United States. Of the seven remaining children, two spent a period of their lives working in England while Tom a merchant seaman, based in the Bristol area in the Southwest of England, travelled all over the world.
Philip Waterworth has spent over ten years researching and accumulating a vast amount of data and documentation to create the Descendants of James Ahern Sarah Casey and Mary Boland. This information is now in a document that can be shared with anyone who may use it as a basis to continue their own research. However, there are possible mistakes and omissions, but as this publication is in a Word format, it will be easy for anyone to add or amend it. Research is still ongoing, and the ever-ending story of those who decide to publish some of the material starts with his Great Grandfather James (Jim Man) Ahern and his 21 children.
This book contains the facts, who, where, when, and narritives of the Aherne family. If you can add to this history or have an anecdote to tell, then please share it and help make our story come alive. Even little things, like your cousin the fisherman who didn't eat fish, will make our story more personal. If you can add to our story, please contact Larry Dwyer. Eventually we hope to have at least a photo of everyone who is here. It is amazing how often there is a close resemblance for relatives separated by generations.
