From the early days of aviation, the 1911 Deperdussin was a favorite among flying schools, and entered for all the big racing and cross country competitions. It was the first aircraft to be built in significant quantities by Aeroplanes Deperdussin and was produced in a number of variants which were flown successfully in air races and gained several records during 1911. Several have survived, including an airworthy example in the Shuttleworth Collection in England.
