The Boeing Model 247 twin-engine transport was the first American all-metal low-wing configuration that offered a clean aerodynamic design in the transport field. Although slightly smaller, it held only ten passengers, but was 50 to 70 mph faster than the Ford, Fokker and Boeing trimotors that it would replace. The first flight was on February 8, 1933 and a total of 75 aircraft were built.
