The Messerschmitt Bf 110 was designed in 1934. It made its first flight on the 12th May 1936 and was designed by Prof. Willy Messerschmitt. The Bf 110 is one of his best designed aircraft that won the RLM's multi-purpose fighter contest.
In early 1944, nearly 60% of the whole German night-fighter force was composed of variants of the Messerschmitt Bf 110. A total of about 6,000 bf 110s were built during the war.
